![]() It does list a bunch of other Broadwells, but the 6800K-6950X are nowhere to be found on this list (though it does mention the socket-compatible Xeons so I'm sure our CPUs were intended to be on this list.) The Broadwell-E CPU's aren't specifically listed on the support pages for KB4100347 either. Please exercise caution if you wish to proceed with this workaround! There are mixed reports that this can break your Windows install! u/d4rkut also posted a reply indicating that this likely works for them. There have been some reports that the mcupdate_GenuineIntel.dll workaround still behaves, but this is far less elegant than uninstalling and blocking an update, and there's higher risk of breakage. If you are running an overclocked Broadwell-E system, beware of this before you update. UPDATE 3: Unfortunately, this update is now included in the latest Windows 10 release and cannot be specifically uninstalled/blocked. It can be easily blocked with the wushowhide.diagcab tool. UPDATE 2: The old update does reinstall itself, again breaking overclocking. Uninstalling KB4100347 and installing the update instead has resolved the issue on my 6800K. UPDATE: A few users have pointed out that KB4346084 resolved this issue, and I can confirm this. Hopefully another update in the near future solves the problem for good. I was fortunate to figure the issue out quickly before I felt like pulling my hair out. The first time around it was caused by a BIOS update from ASUS, which was later resolved a few months later with a subsequent "beta" BIOS (any future BIOS updates - if any - will probably be labelled beta due to the platform being EOL).Īnyways, just thought I'd post this warning for anyone else running on this platform. This is the second time that a microcode update has broken overclocking on this platform. I figured it might be because of the microcode updates, and sure enough, that appears to be exactly the case. I just got around to installing a handful of updates from the past week on my computer, and upon rebooting I realised that the overclock on my Core i7-6800K was no longer applying.
